Finalists in Regional Football Tournament
There were some disappointed faces at the end of the tournament on Friday 5th February, but the football team can be proud of their achievement. After winning the Barnet heats, today they competed against teams from across North London at the prestigious Tottenham Hotspur First Team Training Centre in Enfield.
The standard of play was extremely high, and all the matches were close affairs. Woodcroft emerged as winners of their pool in the group stages. Then, after winning our semi we were through to final – the winners of which would progress to the national tournament at Goodison Park, home of Everton Football Club. In a close match against Chingford School we narrowly lost 1-0.
All of the squad should be proud of their success against the best teams in the region. They came away with silver medals, and each player was given two tickets to Tottenham’s next Europa Cup match against Italian club Fiorentina at White Hart Lane. They also got to experience professional facilities at one of the Premiership’s top clubs.Thank you to Mr Judd and Mrs Clarke for their support of the team.
