Barnet Schools Music Festival

The Woodcroft Choir travelled to the ArtsDepot on Wednesday evening to take part in the Barnet Schools Music Festival. After learning a repertoire of songs in preparation, they got the opportunity to perform in a massed choir with other schools. Our choir also performed an individual piece, ‘Burn’ by Ellie Goulding. The choir were a credit to the school, both for their behaviour and outstanding performances. Photography in the actual schow was not allowed, but you can get a flavour of their amazing day through the rehearsal photos below.  Well done to Mrs Baldwyn for teaching the choir every week and arranging their individual song.

Artsmark Gold Success for Woodcroft

We are celebrating at Woodcroft after receiving the prestigious Artsmark GOLD Award in what is a momentous year for the programme as it celebrates 20 years of arts, culture and creativity in schools.

The Artsmark Award is the only creative quality standard for schools, accredited by Arts Council England. It supports schools to develop and celebrate arts and cultural education, putting creativity and wellbeing at the heart of the curriculum. Artsmark ensures every young person can be creative and access a diverse, high-quality cultural education.

In order to achieve their Artsmark Award, Woodcroft had to develop their arts and culture provision to embed a broad and ambitious curriculum. This was achieved by creating an overall plan that was committed to and delivered across the whole school.

Special thanks must go to Mrs Baldwyn who coordinated our work towards this award.

Dr Darren Henley CBE, Chief Executive of the Arts Council, said: “I would like to congratulate Woodcroft Primary on their Gold Artsmark Award.”

Woodcroft enjoys annual drama productions, a full music programme, championship dance teams and opportunities to achieve your Bronze Arts Award certificate accredited by Trinity College London!
