Arts Council

What is an Arts Council?
Our Arts Council is a group of pupils from Years 5 and 6 nominated by staff in charge of Music, Dance, Drama and Visual Art.  These pupils have demonstrated outstanding commitment and leadership in their chosen artforms in conjunction with strong communication skills.  They were elected to represent the views of all pupils and to improve the arts in their school.

 What do we do?
The Arts Council meets with Miss Sherring (Music Coordinator) to discuss and implement ideas for expanding arts provision in the school.  The Arts Council feed back to the staff in charge of their area suggestions for improvement.  Pupils take on leadership roles within the clubs and activities relevant to their skills, and provide support in planning and carrying out tasks.

What makes us a good Arts Council?

  • Regular opportunities to feedback to staff and other pupils
  • All art forms are equally represented, and the pupils elected have demonstrated commitment to the arts over a long period of time
  • We understand our roles and communicate effectively with adults and pupils
