Nepal Benefit Day at Woodcroft

CURRENT FUNDRAISING TOTAL £2065

Thank you to everyone for supporting our Nepal Benefit Day on 15th May.  Woodcroft pupils wore their crimson ‘awareness’ ribbons, created a giant coin picture out of their donations in the shape of the Nepal map, made class message flags, wrote to their friends in Nepal, made a Nepalese garden with class message flags. At the end of the day we all gathered together outside for a silent reflection. Click on the image below to view our Nepal Day Gallery…

Well done for helping to raise funds for our friends in Nepal as they continue to suffer the effects of the catastrophic earthquakes. We have exceeded our £2000 target, an amazing amount of money to collect! We have identified two recipients for our funds and will split the proceeds evenly between The British Red Cross and ‘Helping You Help Nepal’ charity volunteer Jeff Bordey.

There are lots of thank yous we could give, but we would like to mention Ms Vanner who created all of the activities for the classes at Woodcroft, Mrs Kingham for making ribbons and flags and Mrs Hurley for organising the coin picture. The material for used for the flags was also generously donated for free by the owner of Jersey Vogue Fabric in Edgware. Well done also to our Office and Welfare staff who ran a staff room charity cafe and raised over £100 selling toast!

Our Chair of Governors Liz Court commented:
“It was a privilege to be at Woodcroft for Nepal Benefit Day. Congratulations to the children, staff and parents for the way they showed their sympathy and support for the people in Nepal and for our families who have been so tragically affected. I found the sending of wishes of support with all the children and staff in the playground very moving.

Woodcroft has strong ties with Nepal. Many of our families originate from the country and our link school Nagarjuna Academy and Kids World is in the capital Kathmandu. You may remember that Mr Tallon and Ms Vanner visited in October 2013 (see link below). We also raise money annually to support a charity funded jungle school.
