A message from Teresa Goodall – Barnet Catering Services Manager

We are pleased to publish our new menu which is due to start with week 1 on 23 February 2015, together with an updated Menu Information Poster which we hope you find useful.

The menu complies with the new Food Standards which place a greater emphasis on the increased use of wholegrain and starchy foods, pulses, wholemeal products, non-dairy vegetarian options and an increase in the fruit content of desserts. We hope the new menu will be popular.

School Meals continue to be charged £2.15 per day which represent excellent value for money. Don’t forget, all children Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 can receive a meal free of charge as part of the Governments Universal free School Meal programme. However, it is still important to inform the school if you are eligible for certain benefits or tax credits so that Pupil Premium funding can be applied for you child.

To ensure compliance with the allergens legislation I have provided a complete database of all the dishes on the menu so you can be reassured about the content of our meals or if you have any queries about the ingredients.

Also, on a very positive note, we have recently been inspected by the Soil Association with regard to the renewal of our Food for Life Silver Catering Mark and despite the inspection being even more rigorous and the criteria being very much tighter, I’m very pleased to report that it’s been awarded for a second year.
