July 2023: We are delighted to announce that Woodcroft has achieved the GOLD School Games Mark for the 2022/23 academic year! After a gap due to the covid epidemic we are please to that our commitment to PE and Sport has been recognised in what is our 6th  annual Gold Award.

June 2023: We are pleased to announce that Woodcroft has achieved Art Council England’s gold standard for out outstanding arts provision.

Champion Centre Status Award for Woodcroft

May 2023: Woodcroft has been named as a prestigious Trinity Champion Centre 2023/24 for our successful delivery of the Arts Award, a Trinity College qualification, in association with Arts Council England.

 

UDOIT National Primary Dance Champions

April 2023: We have done it again – Woodcroft Dance Team are the 2023 UDOIT National Street Dance Champions! What a fantastic achievement for our amazing dancers.

Top Of The Class Results for Woodcroft

October 22: We are pleased to report that Ofsted has placed Woodcroft in the top band of schools for academic achievement. In a report sent to all schools last week that was based on this year’s pupil results, Woodcroft is in the TOP 20% schools nationally for combined attainment.  Our KS2 combined results were an amazing 17% above the national average.

September 2022: Woodcroft retained its Music Mark School status for 2022-23!

July 2022: Congratulations to 26 of our Year 6 pupils for successfully completing their Bronze Arts Award from Trinity College 

June 2022: Woodcroft has been renamed as a Trinity Champion Centre 2022/23 for our successful delivery of the Arts Award, a Trinity qualification supporting music, art and drama in association with Arts Council England. Read more here.

 

March 2022: Our Dance Team were crowned East of England and N London Champions at the regional finals of The Great Big Dance Off competition held at the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage on Monday.

February 2022: Woodcroft has been awarded Gold Level Accreditation for the TfL STARS sustainable travel scheme. This means we are placed in the top 10% of London schools for setting the highest standards to inspire others to transform travel habits, fully engage the wider community to promote best practises!


September 2021: Woodcroft has been awarded the prestigious Music Mark School status for 2021-22!  In the nomination letter it stated, “We have recognised your commitment to a broad and balanced curriculum and the value that you place on music.”


July 2021: National Success for Woodcroft’s Award Winning Dance Team

Woodcroft’s amazing Dance Team have achieved an incredible 2nd place in the The Great Big Dance Off’s national primary competition.


April 2021: Woodcroft Awarded Trinity Champion Centre Status

Woodcroft Awarded The Primary Science Quality Mark

September 2018: We are pleased to announce that Woodcroft has been awarded The Primary Science Quality Mark! The PSQM Award scheme enables schools to work together to share good practice and is supported by professional development led by local experts.  It is led by the University of Hertfordshire in collaboration with the Primary Science Teaching Trust.

Woodcroft Celebrates School Games Gold Award

July 2018: We are delighted to announce that Woodcroft has achieved the GOLD School Games Mark for the 2017/18 academic year! This is our 4th Consecutive annual Gold AwardThe School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012. It is facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. 


Woodcroft Chair Awarded Governor of the Year 2018

July 2018: Liz Court, Woodcroft’s fantastic Chair of Governors, was awarded Barnet Governor of the Year at the 2018 Barnet Schools Awards. Liz received her award at a presentation evening, hosted by Barnet Southgate College and attended by The Mayor. This is a truly well deserved accolade to mark an amazing 50 Years of service to Woodcroft and its community! Liz joined as a teacher in 1969, both her children attended Woodcroft, and she started on the Governing Body immediately upon retirement. She has been Chair for the past 9 years and has also volunteered as a weekly reading support throughout that time.


Dance: Make Your Move – London Junior Winners

April 2018: On Saturday 21st April the Woodcroft Dance Team won the London junior heats of the British Red Cross sponsored competition Dance: Make Your Move staged at The Michael Crawford Theatre in Dulwich. Woodcroft were also acknowledged as Platinum Fundraising Award winners on the night for raising over £1000 in support of The British Red Cross. They will now compete in the Grand Finals in July. London Regional ‘Dance Off’ Champions 2018

Woodcroft Dance team were crowned London Regional Dance Off Champions for the second year in succession following their amazing performance at The New Wimbledon Theatre on Monday 5th February. Competing against 28 other schools from across the London region, Woodcroft’s composition, titled ‘INSIDE’ was based around themes of child mental health.


Barnet Boccia Champions

October 2017: A team of five players from Woodcroft’s Boccia Club won in the annual Barnet Tournament after competing against 20 other schools at Burnt Oak Leisure Centre. The competition was run by Barnet School Sport Partnership (BPSS)  and Woodcroft will now represent Barnet at The London Youth Games.

September 2017: Woodcroft has been awarded the KS1 Gold Games Mark Award by Barnet Partnership for School Sport for our commitment, engagement and deliver of physical activity during 2016/17.

Woodcroft Gains National ICT Quality Mark Accreditation

July 2017: Woodcroft has been awarded the prestigious NAACE ICT Mark. This award is for schools who demonstrate outstanding use of technology to support teaching, learning and school administration. NAACE is the National Association for technology in education. Read more here…


 

Bronze Arts Award Success

July 2017: Congratulations to fifty one of our Year 6 pupils for successfully completing their Bronze Arts Award. On Tuesday 18th July a moderator from Trinity College reviewed the portfolios for all of the pupils that had chosen to submit their work for assessment. The Moderator confirmed that all had achieved the standard for the Bronze Award. She praised the high quality of evidence presented by the school.

Bronze Arts Award is a Level 1 national qualification available to young people aged 11 to 25 and is accredited by Trinity College London, the leading international arts examinations board.


Woodcroft Gains Highest Arts Recognition – Artsmark Platinum 

July 2017: We are delighted to announce that Woodcroft has been awarded an Artsmark Platinum Awardthe highest accolade accredited by Arts Council England. Woodcroft was commended for its rich and well established arts and cultural offer; including strong leadership, inclusive approaches and innovative curriculum. Dance: Make Your Move – WINNERS – National Grand Final

July 2017: Sunday 2nd July Woodcroft’s Dance Team performed on the Indigo stage at The London 02 in The Grand Final of the British Red Cross sponsored dance competition Dance: Make Your Move. Woodcroft had already won the London regional heats back in March to earn their place in the Grand Final. Then, after a breathtaking performance of their routine, ‘ What Shakes us Won’t Break Us’, inspired by the Nepal earthquake of 2015, they were crowned Grand Final WINNERS! July 2017: We are delighted to announce that Woodcroft has achieved the GOLD School Games Mark for the 2016/17 academic year! The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012. It is facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. The Great Big Dance Off National Champions 2017

June 2017: On Monday 19th June the Woodcroft Dance Team travelled to Oxford to take part in The Great Big Dance Off National Finals. Competing against thirty two other schools, all regional finalists, from across the country we came away with the coveted trophy and title – Great Big Dance Off National Champions 2017! Click to read more in our News Issue 281

Barnet Tri-Golf Champions 2017

May 2017: On Wednesday 16th May Woodcroft sent a team of golfers to the Barnet Tri-Golf Championships staged at Allianz Park. In a tense play-off final against Broadfields, The Hyde and Goldbeaters we emerged victorious and came away with the gold medals! Woodcroft will now represent Barnet at the London Youth Games in July.

April 2017: Woodcroft retained the Barnet West Netball League Championship on Wednesday 26th April following our play-off victory after an unbeaten season. It is an amazing achievement to win the trophy two years in succession.

March 2017: Woodcroft were crowned London school dance champions on the night of Monday 20th March when they won the The Great Big Dance Off. Our school dance club competed on the stage of New Wimbledon Theatre against teams from across London.

Team of the Year – Barnet School Sports Awards 2016

September 2016: Woodcroft footballers were awarded Team of the Year at Barnet’s prestigious School Sports Awards on Friday 30th September. At the presentation ceremony held at Finchley Arts Depot our boys were presented with their trophy by two stars of rugby from Saracens. To read more click here

Communication Friendly Status Award for Woodcroft Early Years

September 2016: Woodcroft Nursery and Reception have achieved an accredited ‘Communication Friendly Status,’ from Elklan www.elklan.co.uk. Our Foundation Stage took part of a year long project that focused on developing children’s speech, language and communication. Congratulations to all of the Foundation Stage for achieving this prestigious award.

Arts Award Success

July 2016: As part of our AIM@Arts programme Woodcroft pupils take part in an extended and enriched curriculum. Pupils in Year 6 then work towards the Arts Award. This is a nationally recognised certificate issued by Trinity College London. The pupils have to submit a portfolio of work for moderation by an external college assessor. We are proud to announce that 55 of our Y6 pupils successfully met all of the criteria and achieved their Bronze Level Award .

Barnet Football Awards – A Clean Sweep for Woodcroft!

July 2016: Woodcroft’s all conquering football team won a clean sweep of major borough wide trophies this season. This included the two Barnet knock out cups (Martin Cup and Dick Bailey Cup) and the Munroe Shield (overall league champions). Well done to all of the team and thank you to Mr Judd and Mrs Clark for their coaching and support during this outstanding season.

Woodcroft are the 2015 -16 KS1 Sports Challenge Champions!

July 2016: Year 1 and 2 took part in a series of Barnet wide sports challenges. The competitions involved various activities that occurred during PE and Games lessons. The results were submitted to the Barnet School Sports Partnership (BPSS) who compiled the league tables. When all results were counted at the end of the year Woodcroft were the winners of the KS1 Virtual Challenge Shield for 2015-16.

Barnet West Netball League Champions!

April 2016: Following an undefeated season in their league group, on Wednesday 27th April the school netball team were victorious in the play-offs against Courtlands School. Woodcroft were crowned Barnet West Netball Champions! This is an amazing achievement, and the first time Woodcroft have won the Netball League.

2015 Young Gardeners Award

October 2015: On Thursday 8th October Woodcroft’s Early Years Garden won the Rose Connolly Cup at the Barnet.2015 Young Gardeners Awards. Our prize for ‘The Most Enthusiastic Young Gardeners 2015 was presented by the Mayor of Barnet.

September 2015: Woodcroft received two accolades at the 2015 Barnet Sports Awards hosted at Middlesex University on Tuesday 8th September. We were recognised in two categories; ‘The School Team Of The Year’ runners up for our J Rock Club and the Sainsbury’s School Games Gold Award. July 2015: Trinity College assessed the portfolios of Y6 and confirmed that 39 pupils had achieved the standard for the Bronze Award, praising the high quality of evidence presented by the school. To achieve Bronze, a Level 1 national qualification, young people present detailed evidence to show they have taken part in arts activities, experienced arts events, research their arts inspiration and shared their skills with others.

July 2015: Woodcroft has been congratulated by Dr Helen Walters, Head of Health, on behalf of the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson,  on achieving the Healthy Schools London Silver Award. Short Film Category Award Winner – 2015 ‘Be Your Best’ Rock Challenge

June 2015: At the Rock Challenge finals, held at Portsmouth Guildhall on Wednesday 17th June, Woodcroft were awarded 1st place in the short film category.

Woodcroft’s ‘Mission Impossible’ film starring the cast and crew of J Rock, and directed by Miss Maynard, was shot over the course of the year and documented J Rock Club’s development of their ‘Sting in the Tale’ dance routine. Watch the film by clicking here: J Rock Mission Impossible Film

Rock Challenge Southern Regional Finalists 2014

June 2014: Woodcroft Rock Challenge dance club were again successful in reaching the southern regional finals in Portsmouth on June 18th  2014. They achieved a fantastic second place in the London and Herts area heats in February.

November 2013: We are pleased to report that Woodcroft continues to meet,  and exceed, the Investors in People Standard.  We have been accredited for another three years until November 2016.  Investors in People is a quality assurance standard which helps  organisations improve on their performance. The inspection report concluded, “I would like to congratulate  everyone in  Woodcroft Primary School for making it such an energetic and  inspiring place to learn for both staff and pupils.”

Woodcroft Barnet Team of the Year Runners–Up 

September 2013: “The best sporting talent from Barnet  schools attended the 2013 Barnet School Sport Awards evening on Thursday 19th  September at Saracens home ground Allianz Park. Organised by the Barnet  Partnership for School Sport (BPSS) Team and highlighting the past academic  year’s sporting highlights, the evening had guest appearances from Saracens and  England Rugby Player David Strettle and Olympic and World Athletics Team GB  4x400m quartet member Conrad Williams. rock challenge logoFebruary 2013: Woodcroft are the 2013 North London and Hertfordshire Rock Challenge Champions.  On 27th February 2013 our Dance Club performed their ‘Hard Knock  Life’ routine at the Gordon   Craig Theatre  and came away with 8 awards and overall 1st place. This is a  fantastic achievement for our dancers who now compete at national finals this  summer.


Ofsted Interim Inspection Statement

In February 2013 Ofsted announced that Woodcroft remains GOOD school. They carried out an interim audit of school assessment results, attendance figures and other data and confirmed that the school’s high performance has been sustained since our last full inspection.

Sir Michael Wilshaw, Her Majesties Chief Inspector of Schools, wrote to say, “I wish everyone involved at Woodcroft continued success for the future”.

Basic Skills Quality Mark 2

In January 2013 Woodcroft Primary School  successfully achieved reaccreditation of its Basic Skills Quality  Mark. The Quality Mark is an award that celebrates and supports continuous  improvement in literacy and numeracy. It is awarded to schools that have  effective approaches and can demonstrate evidence of improving standards. The school  underwent a rigorous inspection of its policies, procedures and practice and  met all 10 Quality Mark criteria.

In January 2013 Woodcroft was chosen to develop international links with Nepal as part of a major new school twinning project to boost global education. Connecting Classrooms is a UK Government and British Council education initiative. Woodcroft has been selected in recognition of its commitment to teaching students about global issues.

Secretary of State for International Development, Justine Greening said: “I am very pleased that Woodcroft Primary in is taking on this excellent opportunity to link with schools in other parts of our world. Connecting Classrooms will enable pupils to learn about the world around them also benefit teachers by enhancing their professional skills.”

Woodcroft has achieved the Sustainable Travel Accreditation and Recognised Award (STAR) – Sustainable level 2012!

On the 28th February 2012 Woodcroft performed at the Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage, in the North London and Hertfordshire Rock Challenge dance competition. Our year 4, 5 and 6 dancers came away with 7 category awards and achieved a fantastic 2nd place overall.

Woodcroft has been accepted as a member of  the London 2012 Get Set Network. ‘Get Set’ is a special community of schools  which demonstrate a commitment to the Olympic Values (friendship, excellence  and respect) and the Paralympic Values (inspiration, determination, courage and  equality).

Woodcroft competed in the national finals of the 2011 Dance Challenge competition at the Cadogan Hall theatre in London.

Woodcroft has been accredited for its outstanding development of the international dimension in the curriculum. Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State for Schools, has presented Woodcroft with the certificate on behalf of the British Council and the Department for Education.

Woodcroft has been successful in gaining the full International School Award and is accredited for three years from 1 September 2010 to 31 August 2013. Woodcroft was congratulated for the scope of our excellent international activities, showing a commitment to creativity and innovation that benefits the school and community”.

Woodcroft were the 2011 winners of the Hendon and Copthall School Challenge Cup. Every pupil in the school competed in series of physical challenges against neighbouring schools.

In June 2010 The Arts Council England awarded Woodcroft the Arts Mark Silver in recognition of the school’s commitment to, and excellence in, arts Education.
The Arts Mark is a nationally coveted award that sets the standard for outstanding provision in schools.

Woodcroft continues to meet the Investors in people Standard and was successfully re-assessed in May 2010.
Investors in people is a flexible standard which helps organisations improve on their performance. The assessment report recognised the commitment and hard work of all staff, governors and volunteers at Woodcroft. It also noted how we are always looking to improve the school to the benefit of everyone involved.

In March 2010 Woodcroft was inspected by the Basic Skills Agency and successfully achieved reaccreditation for the prestigious Quality Mark.
The Basic Skills Quality Mark for primary schools provides a framework for the continuous improvement of literacy and numeracy for all pupils.
Woodcroft had to pass the criteria for 10 rigorous standards and show how pupils make consistent progress.

Woodcroft has met all of the criteria of the National Health School’s Programme and has been awarded National healthy School Status.

Woodcroft provides a full and varied range of sporting activities. We have successfully achieved the Activemark in every year that it has been awarded.


Ofsted Inspection 2009

Woodcroft was graded a GOOD school by Ofsted in December 2009. The Report stated that;
“Woodcroft is a good school that successfully meets the needs of it’s community”… “Pupil achievement is good because pupils are taught well”… “Pupils behave well and are proud of their school”… “Staff go the extra mile to make the school a happy and safe place to be”.
