The Girls football team took part in the West Barnet 6-a-Side Tournament at Power League. Despite deteriorating weather they performed well and improved with each game played. Well done to all of the girls and thank you to Miss Wilkes and Mr Judd for their support of the team. Thank you also to our parent helpers and supporters.
We have been approached by Cambridge University to help with a research project called the ‘Index of Toddlers’ Life Chances’. They are looking for parents of 12- to 35-month-old children to complete a questionnaire. The study, part of the ‘Ready Steady Go’ project, is led by Prof. Claire Hughes and is trying to learn more about the growth of basic social skills in children and the experiences of parents of raising children. It’s very short, takes 10 minutes, and they would be delighted if parents contributed. For more information or if you can help please pick up a paper questionnaire from school or visit the links below:

Guitar Club performed a wonderful musical set to the school and parents on Friday 23rd January. They played and sang ‘Stay with Me’ by Sam Smith and then two songs by Ariana Grande; ‘Break Free’ and ‘Problem’. They also performed ‘Count on Me’ by Bruno Mars and ‘Stairway to Heaven’ by Led Zeppelin.
The quality of their playing and singing was truly amazing. Well done to Mr Huckerby for enabling such musical talent an opportunity to express itself so confidently. Visit the photo gallery here…
Ollie Tunmer, star of West End Show Stomp, taught Woodcroft pupils the art of body percussion. Take a look at what we got up to…click here to visit the gallery.
Today we were visited by Bryn Court, an ex Woodcroft pupil who is now a renowned Hollywood movie sculptor and set designer. Bryn was the Head Sculptor for the Harry Potter series of movies, but has also worked on many other famous films from Braveheart to James Bond. He brought along two house elves from Harry Potter. I am sure you all remember ‘Dobby’ from the films…guess who created him?
Bryn talked to the school in a special assembly. He told us all about his time as a pupil at Woodcroft, and how he dreamed of becoming an artist. He described how he worked hard at school so that he could go to college to study art. After college Bryn then started helping out at a film studio to learn from others around him. He has now worked on many films and also helped create the Harry Potter theme parks in Orlando and Japan. Bryn has just finished making a lifesize fire breathing dragon at Universal Studio’s new Wizarding World; check out this video clip below …
Bryn was also crafted the Dark Knight sculptures for the Batman movies. Visit his website to see all of his fantastic work. http://moviesculptor.com/
Bryn will be coming back to Woodcroft in the near future to support our AIM@Arts programme and work with some Woodcroft pupils. However, he starts a new film project with JK Rowling on Monday; but you will have to ask one of the pupils to find out about this surprise news!
