Yes 2 Chess Hyde Park Fun Day

Report by Tung (Y6)

yes2chess01-logoOn Wednesday 24th June 2015, Mrs Niner took eight players from Chess Club to participate in the Yes 2 Chess Fun Day at Hyde Park. The people who went were Jaydan, Robbie, Faisal, Maryem and Haya from Y5, and Dan, Navead and me, Tung, from Y6. It was an exciting, but hot day. We took the underground using the Northern, Victoria and Central Lines. When we arrived we watched a giant chess match where actors were live chess pieces! We got to guide the actors in a match and Woodcroft won! Each of us were given a chess set goodie bag to finish off a great day.

Barnet Music Festival 2015

Outstanding Choir Performance

Woodcroft Senior Choir and musicians excelled themselves with outstanding performances at the Barnet Music Festival on Monday 22nd June. On the stage at the Finchley Arts Depot they sang a faultless rendition of ‘Revolting Children’ from the musical Matilda. Our woodwind and percussionists also joined a combined school band to during the massed choir songs. Well done to Miss Sherring and Miss Blyth for leading the group all year and setting such a high standard of performance. Click on the image below to view some rehearsal photos in the ‘2015 Music Festival Gallery’ – unfortunately photography is not permitted in the theatre during the evening show. DVDs of the performance can be ordered from the school.

Caterpillar Diary – Breaking News!

Friday 12th July: Today was the day we said goodbye to our beautiful Painted Lady Butterflies.  Children from Reception and Nursery were joined in the Butterfly Garden by older pupils for the release.
The children were very well behaved and enjoyed sitting with butterflies on their open palms, waiting for them to fly off to explore the big wide world.

Online Safety Advice

The safety of children online is a serious matter. The links below give support and advice on how to keep safe online.

Keeping up with children’s use of technology is challenging for many adults and it can be hard to supervise what they are viewing & creating online, who they are chatting to and texting, and what they are downloading. Many children may well have better technical skills than the adult but they still need advice and protection when using the internet.

Remember, if your child is ‘logged in’ and using Woodcroft’s online services, these are safe and monitored.

To help us improve our curriculum and support we ask parents and carer complete an online safety questionnaire by clicking the image below:

However, this will be the last published paper diary sheet as we have now moved to our online Google Calendar.

Forthcoming event dates and details will still continue to be published in our Weekly News. Click on the calendar icon found in the sidebar of this page.
