Woodcroft Helps Launch London Wide Arts Campaign

genration culture

Last week was the start of a new campaign for schools to come together and take practical steps to improve the creative and cultural education offer for children.

London Arts Organisation A.N.D. (A New Direction) is funded by the Arts Council England to connect young people with great arts and culture across the region. Thier new campaign, Generation Culture, was launched last week. At Woodcroft we already have a reputation for outstanding Arts education and so have been featured as part of the campaign launch. Woodcroft was honored to be the first school to pledge support. You can read the article about Woodcroft at the address below;

Pupils in traditional dress. Visit our International Day Gallery by clicking above.

Wednesday 21st October was INTERNATIONAL DAY at Woodcroft. We celebrated the fantastic diversity of people that make up our wonderful school community. Children and staff came to school dressed in traditional clothes from their home countries or the colours of their national flag.

In a special assembly we came together representing every continent of the world. At the end of the day we had our International Cake Sale. Thank you to everyone for their contributions.

Bronze Medals for the Woodcroft Team

Mixed Football Tournament

Bronze Medal Success! Click above to view the tournament gallery

Congratulations to our Football Team for winning a brilliant bronze medal at the Barnet Mixed Football Tournament!
Over 30 schools entered the competition held at Friern Barnet Power League on Tuesday 20th October. Woodcroft won their group of 5 teams to progress through to a quater final match against Wessex Gardens. Goals from William and Usman secured that victory earning a place in the semis. However, we came up against the eventual winners, Summerside, the only team to defeat us all day! Despite our disappointment at missing out on the final we put on terrific performance in the bronze medal play-off match, winning 4-2 against Akiva, finishing in overall 3rd place. What an excellent first outing for our new kit.
Our coaches; Mr Judd, Mrs Clarke and Mr Gagen were extremely proud of all of the team. Makayla and Hira were voted payers of the tournament for some outstanding defending and goalkeeping.

They carefully followed the steps they had learned  and were able to prepare the pharaoh for the afterlife. Year 3 want to say a very big thank you to Tutankhamun and wish him all the best in the afterlife. Take a look at some photos of our day – click on a thumbnail to view the gallery slideshow.

Most enthusiastic gardeners 2015!

On Thursday 8th October Mrs Brown and Mrs June attended the 2015 Barnet Young Gardeners Award Ceremony along with pupils, Arman and Ajisa, and their Mum, Mrs Husedzinovic.

The judges had visited our Early Years Garden back in the summer and spent time talking with the children about how the garden is used at Woodcroft. At the Awards, held at Sunnyfields School, it was announced that we had won the prize for ‘The Most Enthusiastic Young Gardeners 2015’. We were presented with The Rose Connolly Cup by the Mayor of Barnet. The judges commented that Woodcroft Reception pupils were always enthusiastic and very knowledgeable for children so young. Well done to everyone involved in making our boutique garden so special!

Click on the photos below to see Woodcroft’s table display at the event, receiving the trophy from Mayor Shooter and then proudly celebrating in our garden back at school.
