Over the past few weeks Nursery and Reception have been learning about growing and life-cycles by studying caterpillars as they develop into butterflies. Today, they said goodbye to their butterflies that had now fully grown and released them back to nature. Continue reading
On the 30th of June, instrumentalists from Years 4 to 6 performed in the Summer Term Strings Concert to the school and our families. The string players performed pieces that they either learned during tuition with Mrs Maclean and Mrs Hooker or in Miss Blyth’s String Ensemble group. We enjoyed some great performances from the violinists, cellists and the violists. Continue reading
On Wednesday, pupils from Years 3 to 6 represented Woodcroft at the Barnet Schools Athletic Competition. Despite the rain, all of our pupils performed to their very best and came away with some outstanding results. Mr Judd and Mr Raw were proud of the entire team. Woodcroft ‘J Rock’ Club achieved an amazing 4th Place overall in the Southern England Finals of the 2016 Junior Rock Challenge dance competition. On Wednesday 22nd June we competed at Portsmouth’s Guildhall against regional finalists from across the South. Woodcroft wowed the judges with their Egyptian themed dance. They also came away with 5 fantastic individual category awards! Continue reading
Woodcroft netball team finished their season with an unbeaten record and a victory against Barnfield today in the Barnet South/West Netball Tournament final. The team, who have already won their league, are now knock out cup champions. Congratulations to the team, but we must also express a big well done and thank you to our coaches Mr Patel and Mr Rees. The choir put on a flawless performance at the 2016 Music Festival on Thursday 16th June. Performing a special classical arrangement of Avicii songs, with accompaniment on viola by Miss Blyth, the pupils wowed the audience at the Finchley ArtsDepot. Continue reading

Woodcroft’s Foundation Stage (Nursery/Reception) have taken delivery of their Painted Lady caterpillars. They are in now in the ‘Understanding of the World’ learning area and children have begun observing them with magnifying glasses. The pupils report that the caterpillars ‘have grown because they have eaten all their food’ and that ‘they are so small and wiggly.’
Woodcroft’s fantastic J Rock dance club were invited to open a community showcase event in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations. On Saturday, 10th June, our pupils were at the new Morrisons store in Colindale to start the afternoon’s performances. The dancers wowed an audience of shoppers with a version of their Egyptian dance. Continue reading
