International Day Success

By C Tallon21st October 2016

International day banne 2016

IMG_1073We enjoyed another successful International Day on Thursday 20th October. All our pupils looked wonderful as they came to school dressed in the traditional clothes of their families’ home countries.

At the end of the school day, Friends of Woodcroft had organised an International Cake Sale with donations from across the school community. Parents had baked traditional cakes or decorated them in the colors of their national flags. The sale raised over £300 with proceeds being put towards the purchase of dual language books for the school library.

Year 4 studied photographer Kike Calvo – click on the image to view a gallery

Last week we enjoyed a visual arts focus to our lessons. From Nursery to Y6 each class studied a particular artist and produced some stunning work. Take a look down the Gallery Corridor in school or on the Treehouse to see what your child was up to.

Year 4 studied photographer Kike Calvo to produce these amazing images during Art Week to support their National Nutcracker project with the Royal Opera House and Royal Ballet. They projected backgrounds in our 4D immersive suite and thought carefully about the lighting that they needed to use to emphasise movement. Take a look at their gallery page by clicking here

2016 Team of the Year – Woodcroft Football Team

Team of The Year 2016

barnet partnership logoWoodcroft footballers were awarded Team of the Year at Barnet’s prestigious School Sports Awards on Friday 30th September. At the presentation ceremony held at Finchley Arts Depot our boys were presented with their trophy by two up and coming stars of rugby from Saracens.

You can see their glittering prize in our now overflowing awards cabinet located in the main foyer. Last season our team won a clean sweep of major trophies including the two Barnet knock out cups (Martin Cup and Dick Bailey Cup) and the Munroe Shield (overall league champions). They were also runners-up in the North London 6-a-side tournament. This award is a fitting climax to what has been quite an amazing year for Football at Woodcroft! Congratulations must also go to Mr Judd and Miss Clarke for their support and coaching of the team.

By C Tallon18th September 2016

Woodcroft danced, whistled and waved as part of the 2016 Burnt Oak Parade. The procession started at Edgware Hospital. We had a great time making some noise and creating a commotion through the streets as we made our way to Silkstream Park. At the festival we joined the other ConnectED Partnership Schools (Barnfield, Broadfields, Goldbeaters and The Orion) to showcase our fantastic pupils’ talents on the stage with a performances of singing and dance.

We paraded from Edgware
Waving flags and blowing whistles
Dancing along the streets

Woodcroft AIM Clubs

By C Tallon14th September 2016

More extra-curricular clubs and activities than ever before!

Woodcroft will be running an amazing 30 extra curricular clubs and activities this term – with more on the way!

We also provide subsidised instrumental tuition, host our own daily Acorns After School Club and a great value breakfast club, and a weekly Parent & Toddler Group called ‘Little Oaks’.

All of these clubs and activities support our AIM programmes (Aspiration & Inspiration Matter) to extend and enrich the curriculum. The majority of clubs are run voluntarily by our wonderfully dedicated staff and most are FREE.

Pupil have been telling their teachers which clubs they are interested in this week. As always, most clubs are over subscribed. If your child brings home a club registration form it means they have been offered a place in a particular club. Please complete and return ASAP as failure to do so may result in a place being offered to another child on the waiting list.

Copies of the AIM Club Leaflet can be found in the main foyer or download by clicking here.
