COLLABORATE is a year-long partnership programme between the Unicorn and one primary school that gives teachers and pupils unparalleled access to theatre for young audiences. We are proud to announce that Woodcroft has been selected as the Collaborate Partner for 2015-16!
This is a unique opportunity to place a whole-school focus on theatre and creative learning, and explore artistic and educational practice with professional theatre-makers. Find out more about the programme by clicking the link below:
On the evening of May 5th our fantastic ‘J Rock’ dancers performed to parents and carers before receiving well earned medals of achievement. The club showcased their ‘Sting in the Tale’ routine for the very last time. Well done to everyone one involved in the club for another amazing year of dance! Anne Fisher, organiser of the Barnet Dance Festivals, came along to present the medals and congratulate the group on the high standard of performance that they achieve every year.
A short film of their year, directed by Miss Maynard, was also premiered on the evening. This can be viewed below.

We have all been shocked by the news of the earthquake in Nepal. The 7.8-magnitude quake has killed more than 6,000 people. Many survivors are now in desperate need of food and water.
Woodcroft has strong ties with Nepal. Many of our families originate from the country and our link school Nagarjuna Academy and Kids World is in the capital Kathmandu. You may remember that Mr Tallon and Ms Vanner visited in October 2013 (see link below). We also raise money annually to support a charity funded jungle school.

On Friday 15th May we shall be holding a Nepal Benefit Day at Woodcroft when we will raise funds to help our friends in Nepal.

Our school basketball team, the ‘Woodcroft Wildcats’ took part in the Barnet Basketball Tournament against teams from across the borough. In their pool matches they succeed in achieving a very creditable 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss. They were eventually knocked out in the quarter finals by the eventual winners.

Welcome back to the start of a new term. We hope that you had a good break and enjoyed the Easter sunshine! This term is always especially busy with trips and events so we will be distributing the summer diary sheet on Friday.
Woodcroft already provides excellent information to parents through our weekly published newsletter and website. However, in response to questionnaire feedback about receiving even more notice about events we have introduced a new School Calendar facility on this website. This online, interactive, Google calendar will enable parents to keep up to date with all of the latest information. Go to our School Calendar page or click the icon on the right. Can I recommend that you select ‘Agenda’ view from the tabs available if it doesn’t do so automatically, This will display a handy list of all events throughout the term. We hope that you find this new feature useful.
NB: Please note that Google have identified and issue with the web calendar not displaying on certain devices. We have therefore provided a direct link on the Parent Calendar if parents experience difficulty viewing.
Following our Music Award and Spring Concerts, Woodcroft has featured in two newspapers over Easter. Read both of the articles below.
The Times Series of newspapers wrote a feature that can be read at: http://www.times-series.co.uk/news/11885555.Award_for_school_that_sings/

Our fabulous musicians and choir performed a wonderful Spring Concert on a glorious sunny evening in March. Pieces by our Senior Choir, Flute Ensemble, Guitar Group, and String Ensembles were enjoyed by a full audience of family and friends.
After the show our Chair of Governors, Liz Court, presented flowers of thanks to our instrumental teachers and to Miss Sherring, Music Leader, for all of their exceptional work culminating in our recent national award.
Then on Monday morning our entire Y3 performed as a 60 piece ukulele band to parents and carers in a very special assembly.
