They carefully followed the steps they had learned  and were able to prepare the pharaoh for the afterlife. Year 3 want to say a very big thank you to Tutankhamun and wish him all the best in the afterlife. Take a look at some photos of our day – click on a thumbnail to view the gallery slideshow.

Most enthusiastic gardeners 2015!

On Thursday 8th October Mrs Brown and Mrs June attended the 2015 Barnet Young Gardeners Award Ceremony along with pupils, Arman and Ajisa, and their Mum, Mrs Husedzinovic.

The judges had visited our Early Years Garden back in the summer and spent time talking with the children about how the garden is used at Woodcroft. At the Awards, held at Sunnyfields School, it was announced that we had won the prize for ‘The Most Enthusiastic Young Gardeners 2015’. We were presented with The Rose Connolly Cup by the Mayor of Barnet. The judges commented that Woodcroft Reception pupils were always enthusiastic and very knowledgeable for children so young. Well done to everyone involved in making our boutique garden so special!

Click on the photos below to see Woodcroft’s table display at the event, receiving the trophy from Mayor Shooter and then proudly celebrating in our garden back at school. Burnt Oak Festival Success

By C Tallon20th September 2015

Click on the photo to view our festival photo gallery

The Sun was shining, flags were waved, whistles blown, music played and pupils danced – everyone had a great time at the 2015 Burnt Oak Festival and Parade on Saturday 19th September.

Woodcroft was joined by our fellow connectED partnership schools; Barnfield, Broadfields, Colindale, Goldbeaters and The Orion, in the procession from Edgware to Silkstream Park. With music supplied by our very own Mr Raw, everyone who joined the parade danced their way through the streets of Burnt Oak.

The schools then put on some amazing performances on the festival stage. Woodcroft’s guitar group got things off to a great start with an accomplished set; singing and playing with such confidence. J Rock Dance Club later wowed the audience with their latest composition.

The Nutmeg Community guys who were hosting the proceedings on the stage had fun with all of the schools getting everyone up to dance. No one was safe – including Headteachers!

In a climax to the event all of the school choirs came together on the stage to perform ‘Everyone Belongs’; a fitting end to a first event with our connectED partnership schools.

Well done to the festival organisers from All Together Better Burnt Oak! Thank you to all of the staff and parents who supported the event and helped make it such an excellent day! Click here to view our Festival Photo Gallery

‘All Ears’ music project at Woodcroft

Greg Sinclair Artist Residency 21.09.2015 – 5.11.2015

unicorn schoolsAs part of our Collaborate Partnership with the Unicorn Theatre, award winning musician and performance artist Greg Sinclair will be joining Woodcroft for 6 weeks to lead an exciting musical residency project called ‘All Ears’.

Greg promises to leave a legacy for new ways to explore music within the school! He will work across every year group creating a range of music making and listening experiences. Greg will explore the different aspects of how we listen? What we listen to? Who we listen with? And, what types of music we can make to listen to?

We can look forward to some exciting and inspiring music making!

About Greg Sinclair…

greg sinclair 1

Greg began his career as a cellist and composer before branching into theatre and performance art, much of which is created for children and young audiences. His latest piece, ‘I Do, Do I’ was part of the Brighton Festival.  He says that he ‘is inspired to learn from the creativity, energy and imaginative scope of children.’

This is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to collaborate with a renowned artist – Follow Greg on his musical journey at Woodcroft in the ‘All Ears’ Journal by clicking here…Artist-in-Residence-Greg Sinclair_edited-3
