Have great summer, see you again on 6th September!

Oliver The Musical

Year 5, please can we have some more …?

Year 5 left us wanting some more after their fantastic performance of Oliver The Musical today in school. Keeping audiences small and socially distant, they performed their piece a number of times to different groups from across KS2. Well done to all of the cast and teachers for a wonderful show.

Year 6 Leavers

The Coolest Party In Town!

What better way to party on one of the hottest days of the year than with an with outdoor disco followed by a water battle to cool off?

Year 6 did things a bit differently this year! They have enjoyed a day long leavers event that included an afternoon outdoor disco, pizza supper, an amazing ‘Class of 21’ photo arch, and to finish of, a mega 6G vs 6J water bomb battle!

The teachers might have enjoyed it just as much as the pupils by the looks of it!

Eid Mubarak

Eid Mubarak to all who are celebrating – We hope it’s a peaceful and joyous day.

Pupils at Woodcroft Excel in the Arts

Despite all of the restrictions this year, it has not stopped Woodcroft’s success. This week we are proud of two outstanding achievements in Music and Dance that you can read about below. In addition to this, Year 6 pupils are currently putting the finishing touches to their Bronze Arts Award portfolios ready to submit by moderation by Trinity College London advisors next week. They have worked hard all year to ensure they are exceeding the criteria when their work is moderated.

National Success For Woodcroft’s Award Winning Dance Team

2nd Place Result in The Great Big Dance Off

Woodcroft’s amazing Dance Team have achieved an incredible 2nd place in the The Great Big Dance Off’s national primary competition. Schools had to send in a video of their composition for judging. In fact we were only 1 point off the top spot after the judges added up the results! The team had only 6 weeks to choreograph and perform their dance so they have done amazingly well. Miss Williams, our Dance Coach said, “It’s been quite a challenge putting this dance together in such a short period of time but worth the hard work! Well done to my amazing dance team!”

Woodcroft Pupil Wins Prestigious Music Scholarship

We are delighted to announce that Bianca (Y5) has been awarded a Mayor of London Young Musicians Scholarship by the Trustees of the London Music Fund. Scholarships are awarded to pupils who have shown exceptional talent, commitment and enjoyment in their music-making. Only the very best students across London are recommended for a scholarship and it is therefore a great achievement to receive this award! Well done to Bianca, and our fantastic music teachers from BEAT. Mrs Boden, Bianca’s woodwind teacher,  commented, “Bianca works hard in lessons and in her practice at home, her playing is beautiful. I’m delighted that she has been awarded this well deserved scholarship.” We look forward to watching Bianca develop as a musician.

Please Complete Our Questionnaire

Safety In Our Local Parks

Burnt Oak schools are keen to support our local communities following the recent events at Montrose and more general issues with park safety. We are responding to ongoing concerns that have been expressed by our pupils in class, and our families at the school gate.

Local Headteachers wrote a letter to Barnet Council about these concerns. We are pleased to report that support has now been offered to our pupils through safety talks, workshops and counselling for those in need.

However, worries still remain in relation to our families and their ability to safely access the local parks and open spaces, especially as we approach the summer holidays.

Burnt Oak schools want our communities to have a voice! We have joined together to create a short questionnaire to collect your views. Your responses will then be put to Barnet leadership at a special schools’ forum to be held before the end of term.

We now need as many families as possible to complete our questionnaire! Click here …

Links will also be sent out by email and text. It only takes 5 minutes so why not do it now!

We want all of our children to feel safe. We want our families to feel heard! Please take part in our questionnaire. Thank you.
