Caterpillar Diary

On Monday 18th May our Reception classes, RB and RC, took delivery of some painted lady caterpillars. They are planning to watch them grow and change as part of their topic.
The caterpillars have been put into individual pots with some baby caterpillar food and placed in the ‘Understanding of the World’ area of the setting.  The pupils have been busy exploring them with magnifying glasses and report that the caterpillars are currently ‘small, black, spiky and very hungry’!

Nepal Benefit Day

So far we have raised over £1000 and we still need to count the money on the coin picture and collect in further donations. Thank you to everyone for their generous support – keep the donations coming!

Click on the image below to view a selection of photos from the day’s activities. Woodcroft pupils wore crimson ‘awareness’ ribbons, created a giant coin picture, made class message flags, wrote to their friends in Nepal, made a Nepalese garden, and came together outside at the end of the day for a silent reflection.

A full report will follow in next week’s news. We will continue to collect money before announcing the final total on Friday 22nd May. Well done to everyone – a wonderful Woodcroft day!

Woodcroft Football Academy Success

On Tuesday 12th May, Year 3 and Year 4 footballers from our Football Academy Club played an away match at Chalgrove School. It was a beautiful, sunny day for football and Woodcroft were outstanding in their performance! Our Year 3 team managed a staggering 11-0 victory!  Not to be outdone, the Year 4 team then won with an impressive 8-0 scoreline! Both year groups kept clean sheets and displayed great sportsmanship and teamwork. Well done to all players involved. Thank you to all the parents and staff who supported the team.

J Rock Presentation Evening

On the evening of May 5th our fantastic ‘J Rock’ dancers performed to parents and carers before receiving well earned medals of achievement. The club showcased their ‘Sting in the Tale’ routine for the very last time. Well done to everyone one involved in the club for another amazing year of dance! Anne Fisher, organiser of the Barnet Dance Festivals, came along to present the medals and congratulate the group on the high standard of performance that they achieve every year.

A short film of their year, directed by Miss Maynard, was also premiered on the evening. This can be viewed below.

Go Wildcats!

Woodcroft Basketball Team Compete

Our school basketball team, the ‘Woodcroft Wildcats’ took part in the Barnet Basketball Tournament against teams from across the borough. In their pool matches they succeed in achieving a very creditable 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss. They were eventually knocked out in the quarter finals by the eventual winners.

Welcome Back

Welcome back to the start of a new term. We hope that you had a good break and enjoyed the Easter sunshine! This term is always especially busy with trips and events so we will be distributing the summer diary sheet on Friday.

Woodcroft already provides excellent information to parents through our weekly published newsletter and website. However, in response to questionnaire feedback about receiving even more notice about events we have introduced a new School Calendar facility on this website. This online, interactive, Google calendar will enable parents to keep up to date with all of the latest information. Go to our School Calendar page or click the icon on the right. Can I recommend that you select ‘Agenda’ view from the tabs available if it doesn’t do so automatically, This will display a handy list of all events throughout the term. We hope that you find this new feature useful.

NB: Please note that Google have identified and issue with the web calendar not displaying on certain devices. We have therefore provided a direct link on the Parent Calendar if parents experience difficulty viewing.
